Background Image

I created an infographic for my Digital Style and Design in Public Relations Messages course. This course is designed to teach students the principles of style and design through the use of various content management systems, HTML/CSS and creative software.

Hunger Statistics, my infographic, was created using Canva and Adobe Photoshop. Hunger in the United States is often overlooked. In order to spread awareness, I created this infographic to promote Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization.

The purpose of my infographic is to define food-insecurity, give facts about hunger in the United States and provide viewers with a way to help solve this issue. The infographic promotes donating to Feeding America. The organization’s network of food banks, pantries and meal programs serves 46 million people in the United States, including 12 million children and 7 million seniors. Feeding America provides 10 meals to those in need for every $1 donated. I wanted the viewers of my infographic to be inspired to donate and to know what their money would be going toward.

To create Hunger Statistics, I chose a template on Canva based on the color scheme and layout. I only used four colors on my infographic because I didn’t want it to be too showy or extravagant. Next, I added icons and information. I wanted my infographic to be simple, listing only the most important information. Once I created my infographic, I used Adobe Photoshop to change the size.

Infographics are a new way to communicate a message and present information quickly and clearly. Infographics need to be attractive in order to catch the reader’s eye and should present simple yet important facts. The objective is to inform your audience on an important message.
